We’ve Updated the DC Logo
DCBKK is typically the spark of so new ideas for our team.
Last year, one that we were united behind taking a serious look at our brand colors and logo.
We especially feel the limitations of our branding around the time of events— when applying our logo to apparel, stages, badges, etc.
After explaining to me the various ways that commandeering the Road House movie poster would violate international copyright law (and thereby not properly compensating Patrick Swayze's estate) the team convinced me I am not so strong on branding and we should probably bring in some experts.
So after some time of trying to piece it together myself on Fiverr, we got to work with a great Czech design firm named 2Fresh. As a team, we did a lot of "brand identity" exercises, which is basically a new logo and all the fun stuff that comes with it.
Our team spent time in Figma boards like this on calls talking about colors, what other brands we liked, our values, how we are different, etc etc. Everybody agreed it was fun! But not easy.
Over the next few weeks, the DC team will start rolling out new colors, logos, and design elements throughout the DC Community.
We hope that this will be a more beautiful place and a better reflection of what this community has grown into (and importantly, we'll have cooler swag). We hope you like it!
(If you're not in love with the new logo, remember that your collection of shirts could now become collectors items. I'm sure we can talk @IanSchoen into releasing throwback gear).
We're excited for all we'll be doing as a community in the coming years and happy to be doing it with a fresh coat of paint.
I can share more thoughts and details about this process if anyone is curious, but I thought I'd post it in this way in case any DCers want to share the ROI they've seen from their branding efforts.
Has anyone here achieved a meaningful breakthrough by a re-brand? (Or credit their design as a key business advantage). Does anyone have thoughts for those of us wanting to freshen things up? We're also going to be using this as a chance to update the copy and information on our public website, but that'll take some time to roll out.
Here's the stuff!
