Here’s What to Expect
DCA & DCB members are working to hard to grow their businesses this year, and this event aims to keep that momentum strong.
We’re still developing the content for this one-day event, but here are some details to set expectations. We’ll have a venue with a few different break-out rooms. DCB and DCA members will have their own rooms to dive into their unique challenges. Each group will have group activities and special guests.
There’ll also be many opportunities to get to know your fellow DCA & DCB members.
The Venue and Location
We’ll be at the Inn Cahoots on September 19th.
This venue is just for our event content during the day, it’s not a hotel partner. We don’t have a hotel partner for this event but we have found some options close to Inn Cahoots.
Hotels and Where to Stay During the Event
You’re free to stay wherever you’d like during your stay in Austin. The above are some convenient choices close to our venue.
The East Austin Hotel is one block away from Inn Cahoots. It has three restaurants and a pool onsite. Note: the “Cabin” rooms have a shared bathroom.
Sonder Apartments are one block from Inn Cahoots.
Sentral East Austin Apartments are four blocks away from Inn Cahoots
Hilton Gardens is an 8-minute walk from the venue.
To get around Austin, it’s easy to book an Uber around the city. However, I recommend staying relatively close to the Inn Cahoots since that’s where most of the action will happen.
The Schedule
Wednesday, September 18th: Junto with Mixer Activities
Join us for the Wednesday Junto and Mixer. This is open to all DCers in Austin and their plus ones. We’ve rented a private space to get to know each other before the event. Please arrive by 7 PM to receive your nametag and participate in our icebreaker activities. Food and drink will be available for purchase.

Thursday, September 19th: “The Grind Stone Day”
We’ll be focused on learning and working hard together. We’ll spend the day at Inn Cahoots.

Austin’s a great city, and we want to help you turn this into a longer trip. Here are some activities we’re planning. (Note: This activities will have costs associated with them)
Wednesday, September 18 - Golf Day
DC Black Facilitator, Richard Jalichandra, is hosting an afternoon of golf at the Barton Creek Country Club. There are 10 spots available! RSVP here
Friday, September 20 - Rally Car Racing
(^ That could be you!)
We partnered with a local rally track to bring an incredible 1-day rally racing experience to DCers.
45 minutes south of Austin there is a track that hosts rallycross races. This is a private track that has agreed to rent us their cars and the use of the facilities for the day.
If you aren’t familiar with rallycross it’s a timed event that is typically on mixed surfaces (grass, gravel, dirt, asphalt). This particular track is dirt. Unlike driving on the street and other forms of motorsports, getting sideways and sliding around the track is the norm!
This opportunity allows you to drive a rallycross prepared car at the limit! There will be lots of time to practice and coaches available to help you hone your skills. Unless you are a seasoned racer, be prepared to be tired after just a few laps. It takes a great deal of concentration and effort to get around the track and do it quickly. At the end of the day we will host a fun time trial where we will see who is the king or queen of the dirt!
We will have a full day, the schedule is as follows:
Morning session. 9am - 12pm. Practice, coaching and play.
Lunch break. 12pm to 1:30pm.
Afternoon session. More practice and timed competition sessions from 1:30pm to 4:30pm
These cars and the track are not cheap to maintain. They take a serious beating and require constant maintenance. Brianne (the owner of the cars and track) has graciously agreed to let us use her equipment. We have a limited number of cars available, all are manual cars with one automatic car available. If you are not proficient at driving a manual you will need to drive the automatic car.
Price for the full day of driving is $800. I guarantee you will get more track time than you can handle and will go to bed exhausted.

Because of the limited number of cars, we only have a few spots available for this experience.
For manual drivers we have 5 spots left. Cars are Subarus and Miatas.
For automatic drivers we have 2 spots left. Car is a Mini Cooper.

He will send out more detailed information to those that sign up in the coming weeks. We will arrange transportation from Austin to the track for those that don’t have a car.

When to Arrive
There’s a strong community of DCers in Austin, so there’ll be DCers to hang out with no matter when you arrive. If you arrive one or two days before September 19th, the start date, you can expect one or two meet-ups to bring the attendees together.

Who Can Attend
This is a free event for members of DC Black and DC Accelerator. All you have to do is RSVP! If you can no longer come, please tell us because we will organize the day based on who is attending.
On Wednesday Night, your plus one (spouse or significant other) is welcome to attend.

Can I bring a plus one?
You may bring a plus one for the Wednesday night mixer. The rest of the event is only for members of DC Black and DC Accelerator.
What’s included in the event?
The content, lunch, and dinner during the one-day event on September 19th.
When will you have the venue and hotel chosen?
We are negotiating with venues and will let DCA and DCB members know as soon as we have the venue.
How early should I arrive?
We don’t have pre-event activities planned except for a Mixer on the evening of September 18th. Austin is home to many DCers and if you choose to arrive a few days early, you can connect with members in the DC Austin WhatsApp group.
